Iran exported 1.33 million tonne of crude steel since the beginning of current Iranian calendar year (March 21st 2014).
Mr Bahram Sobhani chairman of Iran’s Steel Producers Association said that the figure shows 80 tonne rise from 1.25 million tonne in the same period of time last year.
Mr Sobhani said that Iran exported crude steel to over 50 countries during the mentioned period of time.
Iran’s crude steel output hit 15.64 million tonne in Iranian calendar year 1392 (March 2013-March 2014), a 9% rise compared to the year before.
According to officials, the output is projected to increase to 55 million tonne by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2010-2015).
According to the World Steel Association (WSA), Iran was the biggest producer of crude steel in the Middle East in 2013.
