In the week ending January 10th 2015, domestic raw steel production was 1,899,000 net tonne while the capability utilization rate was 79.0%. Production was 1,824,000 net tonne in the week ending January 10th 2014, while the capability utilization then was 75.8%.
The current week production represents a 4.1% increase from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending January 10, 2015 is up 2.3% from the previous week ending January 3, 2015 when production was 1,857,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 77.2%.
Adjusted YTD production through January 10, 2015 was 2,695,000 net tonne, at a capability utilization rate of 78.4%. That is up 3.4% from the 2,606,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.8%.
