The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of November 2014, US steel mills shipped 7,638,086 net tons, a 10.2% decrease from the 8,508,477 net tons shipped in the previous month, October 2014, and a 0.4% increase from the 7,604,428 net tons shipped in November 2013.
Shipments YTD in 2014 are 90,270,336 net tons, a 2.8% increase vs. 2013 shipments of 87,790,788 net tons for 11 months.
A comparison of November shipments to the previous month of October shows the following changes: hot rolled sheets, down 8%, cold rolled sheets, down 9% and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 12%.
Meanwhile, AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice.
